Teluk Intan et al.
Ahem, according to my tour guide, there are several must-dos when somebody is visiting Teluk Intan.
1) Visit the leaning tower, both during the day and night.
So I finally got to see the well known Menara Condong/ Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan. It looked absolutely gorgeous and super futuristic at night, which was so different from its vintage look during the day.
It's open to public during the day, free admission. The tower was built in 1885 by a Chinese Contractor called Leong Choon Chong. It served as a water tank that store and reserve water. Also, it was used to report time and served as a beacon to guide ships into Teluk Anson port.
And yes, we can go into the tower. Interestingly, it seems to have 8 storeys but in fact, there are only three. Each storey has a high ceiling. As for why the tower is slanting, it was build near river, where ground are more water logged and not strong as foundation.
Honestly, when me and my friends were on the highest floor, we felt that it's really slanted when we walked around on the balcony around the whole floor. I was freaked out because it was shaking, or maybe it's just my illusion.
2) Eat the super super super famous chee cheong fun!
Ok this is really special. It has got spots and no sauce. As I am a vegetarian I got a non-spotted one, which was pure white in colour. As someone who dislike chee cheong fun, I must say that it was very good. A little salty and chewy.
3) This place is neither a tourism spot nor a must go place-- it's Shi Ying's uncle shop in Hutan Melintang. He sells yau char kuay, some fried food and paus. Gosh I am hungry already.
4) Jetty.
This was where we discovered a statue of Guan Yin sitting on the trunk.
The adventures end here. It has been a really good and relaxing trip thanks to the our organizer and tour guide, Shi Ying and her kind-hearted family. And dear housemates, although we will not be staying together anymore, I will always miss you and think of this wonderful trip.
I will miss the paddy fields, speed boat, goat, chee cheong fun, wind, beautiful weather, bright blue sky and everything.
Till then, take care.
