Temple of Dawn

It doesn't matter what your religion is, merely admiring the architecture of Wat Arun and overlooking the Bangkok city are such beautiful sights.

Located on the bank of Chao Phraya River, Wat Arun is one of the most beautiful temples in Bangkok. Its stunning architecture amazed me and I couldn't stop wonder how the ancient people got to build it so beautifully. The temple is decorated intricately with colourful porcelain and various tiles. Time and weather have washed away its ancient glory but still, it stands proudly as a significant landmark and symbol of Buddhism.

Despite its name as the Temple of Dawn, it gives the most spectacular view during sunset, with its beautiful silhouette against the sky. We didn't wait until evening. It looks magnificent enough during the day.

The journey to the top began with a really steep staircase. Every tier of the tower is decorated with floral patterns and colourful little tiles. Of course we could not compare its grandeur to the Royal Grand Palace but this place appears more historical and religious. The tower is surrounded by various statues. If I am not mistaken they are angels or demons that support and protect the temples. Each of them was carefully designed and decorated.

That's the Royal Grand Palace on the opposite side of the river. From the third photo above it might seem to be endlessly tall, there are only two 'storeys' or platform that we could stay and admire the 'aerial' view of the city. Simply beautiful.

This was my second time to Wat Arun. Nothing much has changed to Wat Arun since three years ago except I didn't see any adorable cat sleeping then. Meow Meow!
